July 28 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
An event every day that begins at 10:00 am, repeating until August 31, 2019
Come down to the pavilion at Swimming Area #1 and check out the Island Beach Nature Program’s displays and tanks! Everyday all summer we hold FREE programs!
Touch Tank Time 10am-11am & 3pm-4pm
Seining 11pm & 2pm
Trail Tales 1:00pm
They’re perfect for all ages and entire families! No pre-registration is required but space is limited so sign up early on the day of the event. Parents or guardians must accompany their underage children.
For our seining tours you will take a short 5 minute interpretative native plant walk over to the bay across from the Pavilion and then our expert Naturalists will teach you how to wield a seine net. You will get a chance to experience the Barnegat Bay in a whole new way and you will get to interact with and learn about many local species!
Our Naturalists will be at the Pavilion everyday from 10am-4pm. They can answer any questions you might have about our programs, the history of the park, or any natural phenomena you’ve noticed. They love it when you bring interesting things you’ve found on the beach and they’ll help you to identify them!
The Nature Center and the Interpretative Center are also open from 10am-4pm. The Nature Center features exhibits about local species and the Interpretative Center has historical displays. Clam rakes can be signed out for FREE from the Nature Center everyday. All you need to do is show your clamming license and provide some contact information to sign out the rakes, which must be returned by 4pm.
