Conservation Celebration: Sedge Islands
June 15 @ 9:30 am - 3:00 pm
The Sedge Island Marine Conservation Zone is an ecologically sensitive ecosystem within Barnegat Bay. The creation of the Conservation Zone has helped reduce impacts of personal watercraft on submerged aquatic vegetation, which is the foundation for much of the marine life found on the bay. In addition, it has created many outdoor recreation and education opportunities for the public, among many other benefits!
Join us at the 3rd Annual “Conservation Celebration: Sedge Islands” to help celebrate the achievements of the Sedge Islands Marine Conservation Zone at Island Beach State Park. During the day we will have multiple tours and demonstrations available to the public, including guided tours of the historic Sedge House, osprey nest viewing and talks, kayaking and birding tours, fishing and clamming demos, live terrapin releases and more! Stay for lunch and sample clams grown in the Conservation Zone, provided by The Friends of Island Beach State Park and ReClam the Bay at the Nature Center.
This event is FREE (with paid park entry) and open to the public! Events and tours are on a first-come, first-served basis. Please view the event listing online for more information.
