Red Fox at Island Beach

Fox Advisory

One of the most common species of wildlife to see at Island Beach is the red fox (Vulpes vulpes). They are the largest mammalian predator found on barrier islands. You might think they are friendly at first glance, but they are wild animals. They are certainly used to seeing people at Island Beach State Park. Unfortunately, some people feed the foxes and that is not good! It’s illegal and jeopardizes their survival. They are a beautiful mammal to watch and photograph, but please do not feed the foxes!
